When Heiman Moscot, a skilled optician from Belarus (formerly Prussia in Eastern Europe), began selling ready-made glasses in 1899 on Manhattan's famous Lower East Side from a cart, he had no idea he was laying the foundation for a generational business that would one day become one of the world's leading luxury brands! Moscot's story took a complete turn when his first store opened in 1915.
