
YOHJI YAMATOTO
Yohji Yamamoto is a Japanese fashion designer born in 1943, who is considered one of the most influential designers in the world. His designs are characterized by an avant-garde style, extensive use of black, asymmetrical cuts, and oversized clothing. After graduating with a law degree from Keio University, he studied fashion design at the Bunka School of Fashion Design. He presented his debut collection in Tokyo in 1977, and in 1981 he made his debut in Paris. During his career, he collaborated with various brands and artists, including Adidas (with the Y-3 collection), Hermes, Mandarin Duck, choreographer Pina Bausch, and singer Elton John. In 2012, Yamamoto presented a solo exhibition at the Holon Design Museum, which was his first collaboration with a museum in Israel. Yamamoto continues to be a central figure in the fashion world, with a considerable influence on contemporary designers and global fashion culture.
